COTTERSTOCK. CHURCH : ST ANDREW
The four images above were all taken on a beautiful warm afternoon in mid February 2008. The church in question is a personal favourite, the Church of St Andrew at Cotterstock near to Oundle. Extremely high quality on three of the gargoyles shown, with the image top right, with eyes uptirned to heaven, being a particularly fine piece of work. The image bottom right is badly eroded but seems to be a curious piece of work. There is a small face looking to its left, and whatever this is, it appears to be riding something...what that something is I am not sure as it is too eroded to tell!
KINGS CLIFFE. CHURCH : ALL SAINTS & ST JAMES.
Visited the church of All Saints and St James at Kings Cliffe on the same day as Cotterstock above. Beautiful sunny afternoon, and a delight to be out and about on the cycle again.
No shortage of gargoyles here, with a line of them on both the North and South walls of the church.
The two pictured above, and the third pictured left were all on the South wall. The others below all came from the North wall. I am particularly fond of the two at the foot of the page, with the figure bottom right playing a set of pipes being a personal favourite.
